Internship with Iris Van Herpen

During the 2nd year of fashion design at Falmouth University, I sent out applications to a dozen designers to gain more industry experience.

I received a reply from Iris Van Herpen offering a trial day in their Amsterdam Atelier, and after I was offered to join the team for an entire Couture season ( 7-8 months).

I worked on material development, garment realisation and construction of the dresses for ‘Shift Souls’ 2019 Collection.

My first major project was to reconstruct ‘the triangle dress’, a task that seemed completely impossible at the time. Assigned with another Intern, we spent 2 and a half months pinning, unpinning, re-pinning and stitching, sometimes wearing headtorches as we sewed black thread onto black mesh!

A couple months later we were in paris, set up In an atelier with the show approaching. It was an incredible insight into the catwalk industry, witnessing every aspect from model castings to showroom fittings.
