_Mottainai_ S/S 2021
This Collection aims to create a connection between the wearer, their clothes and their surroundings.
The natural colours and fabrics not only blend into the landscape around them but each garment can be worn, styled and paired with one another so that their are endless outfit combinations!
Due to the nature of the fabrics the wearer feels comfortable wrapped in adjustable linen garments, soft to touch and with time the fabric becomes a part of the wearer as it moulds and softens with every wash.
It is important to me that the wearer has an input into how they want to wear their clothes, with tie fastenings, pull ties and other details the clothes have multiple styles to play around with.
The design and silhouette of the clothes originates from the Japanese philosophy ‘Mottainai’. With this mindful approach towards objects and possessions that are here to be valued, respected and treasured, I wanted to incorporate this into my designs.
This collection inspired with nature is also at peace with the environment as each fabric has been consciously picked from a sustainable source. Each piece has also been designed and created to last a lifetime. The fastenings and details are such that if a thread comes loose they are simple to repair and can continue their journey. Similarly if the wearer should change their physique the clothes are able to remould to their new shape.
